  • New post and new video out today #ontheblog !! I made this concrete planter pot for my front porch, but wanted to add something to it to make it a little different from all the other #diyconcreteplanter projects out there. So I added this wooden base. I’ve got the how to tutorial and video over on the blog at the #linkinprofile so check it out and start making one today. No seriously. Do it today. It takes three or four days for the concrete to dry and that’s an agonizingly long time for someone as impatient as me 😂 so the sooner you get started, the sooner you have a cute addition to the porch 😉 #concrete #concreteplanter #diy #maker #concreteprojects #springprojects #frontporchdecor #planter

  • I keep seeing people do these “five random facts about me” posts and I personally think they’re fun. I like to learn about the people I’m following. So I’m going to share a few. If you don’t care, just skip this one and I’ll get back to the projects next post 😉 so here’s five random facts about me that I bet you didn’t know: 1. I’ve played guitar for 18 years. I’m surprisingly not that good for playing that long, but I don’t put a ton of time into it so 🤷‍♀️ I play in our church praise band. Acoustic only 😎 2. I ran cross country in high school. Best years of my life....not the high school part, but the cross country part. I was pretty good, but I only won first place in one race and it was because the grass was so tall and the path wasn’t well marked and I was so afraid I was going to lose sight of the atv that lead the way and I’d get lost in this tick infested woods so I booked it. 3. I only got stitches one time and it was from tightening the chuck on a metal lathe at work. Hand slipped. Cut my thumb. Not my finest moment. 4. Speaking of work, I work full time at a factory that makes small engines. Basically, a team of three men and me design, build, install, program and maintain the machines that build the engines. It’s fun, but it’s weird being 25 years younger than and the opposite sex as my coworkers 😐 5. I have a degree in mathematics. 🤓 and another in electromechanical engineering technology. But if I could do it over again, I’d probably go to trade school instead of college 🔨🔨 Did any of you already know all of these?? Do they surprise you? What’s your most random fact about yourself? #fivefacts #homebuilding

  • While I’m on the subject of landscaping, I’ll share a flashback (yes, I know it’s Wednesday) or my old house after we redid the landscape. We dug up some old dead bushes, poured the curb, and replaced the mulch with river rock. I LOVED our old landscape and hope to make our new place look this nice soon 🤞🏻 also, swipe to seethe before 😳🙈 #landscaping #curbappeal #quikrete
  • I hauled twelve 80 lbs bags of concrete out of the store yesterday. Then unloaded them into the yard. Then carried them back to my garage because I only used half of what I bought (because, Danny said one bag was a cubic foot and I thought he knew and he didn’t know and I didn’t read the bag and turns out, it’s about half a cubic yard and still somehow the math doesn’t work out, but whatever, I have a lot leftover). BUT the curb is complete (minus the drying part) and I got a good arm workout and I THINK I got enough video to show how I did it soon 😅 and I also want to know how in the world anyone can use the suggested amount of water with their concrete and get anything even remotely workable. HOW?! I use WAY more than suggested BUT it smooths out so much better.   • Life’s too short to worry about mud stains on your pants...and shoes...and hair 😅 this house needs one TLC after the whole construction thing then sitting all winter in a mud pit. So I’m starting with the front porch and the landscape. I poured a concrete landscape curb at our old house and LOVED it. So I’m doing it again.
